About PNG and JPG
PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel and supports transparency. That makes it perfect for screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often huge.
JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs and is accepted by every website, email client, and device. Converting PNG to JPG typically cuts file size by 70–90% for photos, at the cost of transparency.

Frequently asked questions
Why convert PNG to JPG?
Mainly to reduce file size. Many upload forms have size limits or accept only JPG, and JPG photos load faster on websites and are quicker to send by email or messenger.
What happens to the transparent background of my PNG?
JPG has no transparency. Transparent pixels are blended onto a solid background — white by default, but you can pick any colour in the options before converting.
What JPG quality should I choose?
85–92% is the sweet spot for most photos: hard to tell apart from the original while being much smaller. Screenshots with text look best at 90% or higher.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser does the conversion locally using the Canvas API. The files are never sent to us or any third party.
Can I paste a screenshot directly?
Yes. Copy a screenshot to the clipboard and press Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac) anywhere on this page — it is added to the converter automatically.
