About WebP and PNG

WebP is a compact web image format that supports both lossy and lossless compression, transparency, and animation. It is great for websites, but not every editor or platform handles it.

PNG is a lossless format supported everywhere. It preserves every pixel and full alpha transparency, which makes it the standard choice for logos, screenshots, UI graphics, and images you plan to edit further.

Private by design

  • Processed on your device — files are never uploaded.
  • Works offline once the page has loaded.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Frequently asked questions

Does WebP to PNG conversion lose quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so the PNG contains exactly the pixels that were decoded from the WebP. If the WebP itself was lossy, its existing compression artifacts are kept as they are — they are not made worse.

Is transparency preserved?

Yes. PNG fully supports alpha transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas of the WebP stay exactly as they were.

Why is my PNG so much bigger than the WebP?

Lossless PNG compression is far less efficient than lossy WebP for photos. A photo can grow several times in size. For photographs, converting WebP to JPG usually gives a much smaller file.

Do you upload or keep my images?

No. Images are decoded and re-encoded inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing remains after you close the tab.

Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like; they are processed one after another and you can download them together as a ZIP.
