Reduce a photo to 500 KB

A 500 KB limit is common for marketplaces, school portals and website uploads. Your phone photos are several times larger. Drop them here and get JPGs of 500 KB or less that still look sharp — processed on your device, never uploaded.

Each image is compressed until it is at or below this size.

How to reduce a photo to 500 KB

  1. 1

Add your photos — drop files or a folder, paste, or click “Choose files”.

  2. 2

Keep the 500 KB target or type the limit your site asks for.

  3. 3

Download each JPG or everything as one ZIP.

Getting photos under 500 KB

Half a megabyte is generous for a JPG: most photos reach it with only a small change in compression and keep their full resolution. Only very large images, such as 48-megapixel phone shots, are also scaled down.

Because the target is checked for every file, a batch of different photos all comes out under the limit — no guessing at quality settings.

Private by design

  • Processed on your device — files are never uploaded.
  • Works offline once the page has loaded.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Frequently asked questions

Will I notice a quality difference?

Usually not. At 500 KB a JPG keeps fine detail; differences are typically only visible when you zoom in a lot.

Do the photos keep their dimensions?

Most do. Dimensions only change when lowering the quality alone cannot reach 500 KB, which mainly happens with very high-resolution photos.

Can I compress hundreds of photos?

Yes. There is no limit on the number of files. On computers several photos are processed in parallel; results can be downloaded as a single ZIP.

What if a photo is already under 500 KB?

If it is already a JPG within the limit, it is left as it is, so it never loses quality for nothing.

Is it private?

Yes. All processing happens in your browser. Photos are never sent to a server.
